Your Team 2011

2011 sees the Desert Edge Race Team enter its third year of official support from Honda Australia.

DERT's efforts for 2011 will include some state and national motocross in SA, NT and QLD, Hattah in Victoria, Safari in WA and or course our pinnacle event the Finke Desert Race in Alice Springs. DERT had a very respectable showing in the 2010 Finke, in fact our supported riders placed in 8 of the top 10 positions, however that 1st place eluded us and we are very intent on another crack at the top spot this year!

Our team for 2011 has been refined somewhat and aims at really concentrating on the win for our select riders. As always in the spirit of the DERT team, we will also support a number of local and up and coming riders as they strive for top 20 positions.

Michael Walsh (NT) Very Focused this year and looking to make up for a DNF in the 2010 race after a 5th place prologue.

Caleb Auricht (QLD) 6th in 2010 after some mechanical issues on day 1, hungry and eager as always, an asset to us both on and off the bike!

Simon Thompson (QLD) Top 10 national motocross rider joins DERT and looks to make his mark in desert racing. Has the speed!

Steve Hengeveld (USA) Steve will come out 3 weeks in advance of the race this year to be fully prepped and ready.

Daymon Stokie (NT) Very impressive 250cc class win and looking to repeat that performance in 2011 and add a top 10 finish.

Honda has helped to really step up our program this year. We have more involvement from Glen Bell with regards to our riders and their training and we also have Pip Harrison helping us with engines and suspension.
